My last comment: I worry that people like you persuade the uninformed to turn away from the best treatments available. Your solutions for treatments have no proven track record, have not been put under the scrutinous testing that all medications go through. Please stop giving advice – I know you mean well but that is no excuse.

Parent companies of manufactured drugs are billion dollar earners. They have the money to fund huge studies to ‘prove’ the usefulness of their drugs. These tests are often overseen by ‘neutral’ people who are in fact financially linked to the parent company.

Most man-made drugs are based on a compound originating in a natural plant.

Sorry, but I have to make one more criticism. You said your treatments have been known to cure ADHD. That is blatantly false. ADHD cannot be cured, only the symptoms can be minimized or reduced completely. But as with autism, you have it, or you don’t. It’s lifelong, shame on you for suggesting it can be cured. You’re giving false hope to people who are in desperate need of hope. Take care!

ADHD is currently a “popular” diagnosis, meaning that it is probably overdiagnosed. This could be one reason Australia is urging caution. But for those who actually have adhd, homeopathic and natural treatments are worse than a joke. It is harmful, disgusting and disgraceful. These treatments have no proven efficacy in treating adhd. Then why has Australia just pass a law that prohibits physicians from prescribing Attention Deficit Disorder drugs without first trying all proven homeopathic and natural ADHD Treatment. If the Doctor violates this law they could lose their license. Maybe this is because so many are being diagnosed with this condition without really understanding other possible causes of inattention first.

There may be those that can’t function without meds, but there are so many more that are being too quickly told they have this condition that it’s almost a waste basket diagnosis by doctors who don’t want to dig any further to understand other potential causes of inattention. Fair enough, sunlemoon! It still bugs me that these medications are constantly compared with class 2 narcotics. It’s a sort of guilt by association insinuation. The meds are not for everyone but they do help some people lead better lives.

I wish these dieticians, chiropractors and all the other quacks who claim to have answers to the adhd problem, would subject their treatment options to the same scrutinous tests that all medications have to go through before they are approved for sale. It’s easy to criticize big pharma, but it would be nice if the spotlight was turned on all these quacks for a change.

I’m convinced these people do much more harm than good. The cruelest thing they do is give false hope to people who need help

Excellent point! Please pardon my insult? Part of my frustration comes from the people out there who don’t understand the seriousness of the disorder. They are so misinformed that they think diet, supplements etc can cure the problem. This is so insulting and disrespectful to those of us who have witnessed first hand the debilitating condition of adhd.

You’re right that namecalling goes nowhere, however don’t question my knowledge on the subject based on that, that’s simply nonsense. Cheers!

not CONSIDERED narcotics. these drugs are just as narcotic as other drugs, but they are legal because it’s monopolised. example: mefedrone is illegal here in sweden, since it’s thought (and possibly proven) to cause parkinsons disease, and other severe brain damages, but it’s illegal in finland, where it’s legally sold by some drug company, and concidered very effective against depression (which i fully agree with). why? because it’s controlled by a monopoly, meaning controlled by the government
